Both are rich in theology, focus on the person and work of Jesus, and have been instrumental in dramatic life change. We will begin with Kelby’s 12-week study of Hebrews and transition to a study of Romans 1-8 midyear. Our morning together will incorporate group discussion and teaching with a significant focus on prayer, as we learn to ‘approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need’ (Hebrews 4:16). Daily assignments are a valuable element of this study. As we travel, God will teach us the true meaning of blessing, covenant, and promise through the individuals and families He used to birth His redemptive plan. The roads we’ll take with the historical figures of Genesis 12-50 will be full of twists and turns from ruin to redemption, and mystery to revelation. So pack your bags for our 21 week trek including interactive personal study, lively group discussion, and DVD sessions with Beth Moore. God is waiting to take us on a journey trough “The Patriarchs”. Why do we settle for the Word of the Lord revealed to someone else and passed on to us as if God does not speak to us individually? One of the rights and privileges we have a followers is that our Lord speaks to us one-on-one. He meets us where we are despite who we are and reveals His will for our lives. He speaks to Me will encourage you to dig deep into the presence of God and listen for his voice as He Speaks to us all. This study focuses on what we need to do to prepare ourselves to hear God when He chooses to speak, using the example of young Samuel in the Old Testament. Rick Warren’s Bible Study Methods will begin in January and will teach us twelve ways to unlock God’s Word as we learn the different methods. There will be attention given to not only how to study the Bible, but also how to apply it to our lives as we study many different parts of the Bible. Leaders: Marcia Heath, Sherri Gulbrandson, and Connie Beckman Cost of books: $10 wednesday evening study (6:45-8:30 PM) stepping up: a journey through the psalms of ascent Beth Moore’s newest study explores Psalms 120-134. Traveling pilgrims sang these psalms both on the way to the great festivals of the Jews and as key elements of the worship at those festivals. The Psalms are a source of biblical expression and emotions, including overwhelming gratitude and praise, sorrow, fear, anger, and pouring out one’s heart before God. The more we bare our souls to God, the safer we’ll feel with Him and the closer we’ll draw to Him. If we’ll let Him, God will turn each of us into true worshipers, fully released to celebrate Him, reverence Him, laugh with Him, cry with Him, and ever make our complaints to Him. The psalms will challenge the serious student of God’s Word to take the next step with God. This study will include daily assignments, group discussion, and a video featuring Beth Moore. It will go through the first half of the year, with another undecided study to follow. Leaders: Twyla Beyers and Joleen Kubiszewski Cost of books: $12 |
