course description The main purpose of this class is to understand how the entire Bible fits together. The main theme of the Bible (both Old and New Testaments) is God's plan to redeem fallen people through the person and work of Jesus Christ. In the Old Testament God begins to unveil this plan through a series of promises and covenants. In the New Testament we see these promises and covenants fulfilled. course outline Session 1 - Prelude to the promise: Creation, the way the world was, and a big mess Session 2 - Provisions in the promise: Abraham and sons; Jacob and his tribes Session 3 - People of the promise: The exodus and wanderings Session 4 - Place of the promise: Conquest of Canaan and the judges Session 5 - King of the promise: Establishing a kingdom Session 6 - Day of promise: A united kingdom Session 7 - Two kingdoms (failure of the north) Session 8 - Two kingdoms (the roller-coaster south) Session 9 - The exile Session 10 - Home again |
